Staff Voices - EMPLOYEE LETTERS

I T.C. am outlining below my experiences working in Global Mobile Vision.

Since starting work in GMV, my epxeriences have been positive.
My immediate acceptance by management allowed me to show my skills and progress at a faster rate than any company I have worked for previously.

I have found the approachability of David Crownborn, Esther Crownborn, Mathew Crownborn and Alex Fitzgerald extremely helpful and it has allowed me to express my designs, opinions and input as a software developer throughout the 9 months of employment so far.

From the beginning, the development team has grown as a group.
Everybody has equal input into projects and an equal hearing at development design meetings. While each members expertise may differ in different areas within software, the positive group dynamics have produced excellent final products that I am looking forward to launching soon as a commercial project.

Throughout the team we have developed cutting edge software that has pushed unbroken barriers within the Mobile Software markets. One example of this is the User Interface design limitations within J2ME, one of our staff has re-wrote it, a task even Nokia has not approached yet.

Having worked for software development companies previously, I felt excited when joining GMV.
GMV had not succumed to the common bureacracy that is normally found in development houses and that leads to the common disgruntled feelings with employees and their inevitable job hopping. I have always felt that their is opportunity here for my career and no need to look elsewhere .

From the outset I have felt at ease and stable within GMV, so much so that I am purchasing my first house with the deal closing on Friday.

From recent activites with the media and such I have felt slightly worried as to my and the companies future and also rather angry.

The company took on a number of junior developers and offered them a great _opportunity _to start their careers with a company that is moving forward.

Firstly, from their interviews, according to them (as I was an interviewer), they had experiences in the area of Java development. We decided to put them through training in some of the basics of Java & JSP to bring them up to speed.
This being my area of expertise, I was easily able to establish who had the BASIC understandings of what was goin on. For the others I persisted in their questions and spent a lot of time with them.

I delegated JSP tasks to all junior developers and gave them an over-average long period of time to complete the task and encourage the group to help each other.

After a period, that in no doubt proves wether they were up to the job or not, we decided to let the weak developers go.

I was asked to submit a report based on who was productive and who wasnt. I produced that report and named the people that did not or could not provide any assistance to me and act as a hinderance. The standard
for my decision was based on initiative, questioning, understanding and ability to follow instruction.

There is even one ex-employee who I requested on three occasions to show me what he had done and he couldnt beacause he didnt have anything to show, spent his time doing lessons from a book rather than following my specific instructions on basic tasks.

The level of technical understaning was not above basic levels, in fact there are one or two staff whos technical abilities are basic but their commitment, initiative and general all round attitude actually help in the day to day delivery of projects (isnt that what normal staff are supposed to do?). I still train these staff on a daily basis.

I feel the company has been put through un-necessary upset with recent occurances. The company has been constantly moving forward in a positive way and I want to get back to work on the projects at hand.

I truly hope the company has a future here, as I want to be part of that future.
So far GMV has provided me with a career, a lifestyle, a house and a future, I know it has also done this for my fellow co-workers.

Thanks

T.C.

To whom it concerns,

As an employee of GMV Interactive, I am extremely upset by the allegations, currently being made against the company.

While working at GMV I have found the atmosphere both relaxed and professional. I enjoy working at GMV due in no small part to my work colleagues, whom on a professional level and a personal level have proved themselves to be the most sincere and accommodating of people. I have never felt sexually harassed by any members of staff.

Currently an air of uncertainty and anxiety hangs over the office. I can say with the utmost of honesty that the remaining staff just want this matter resolved swiftly so they can continue with their responsibilities without feeling preoccupied and distracted by this negativity.

It is very apparent to all the remaining staff and undoubtedly to many of the former staff that these allegations are being made by a few disgruntled staff seeking retribution.

I love working at GMV and have found the position here, one of the most rewarding positions I have held yet. I would feel very distressed if a company such as GMV which is providing employment to so many happy employees could be irreparably injured by unfounded allegations.

I sincerely hope these issues will be resolved swiftly, so we can return to a productive and relaxed working environment.

sincerely,

J.O

To whom it concerns

I am writing to express my utter disgust at what is happening in my company at the moment.

I started working in Global Mobile Vision at the end of October, 2004 at a time when I didn't really know what it was I wanted to be in life and what direction I wanted to go in. I had become a bit disconcerted with graphic design and the lack of good opportunities in my country. When I got the chance to start with GMV I was determined to make something of it.

Right from the start I fell in love with this company. There was so much ambition amongst the majority of the staff. They really wanted to make this work. I did myself, it was an exciting technology we were pushing. The workload was has always been challenging but as I soon found out, with hard work comes greater responsibility, and with greater responsibility comes greater rewards. This is the first time I have been in a company that actually lived up to that promise. Within 4 months I was promoted to Graphic Design Team Supervisor. Since then a few weeks ago I was promoted to Director of Design. There is nothing that motivates you more to work harder than knowing and being shown that you are appreciated. This is what I have been looking for since I started out on my career 6 years ago.

The past couple of weeks have been shattering. The people and the company I have grown to love as a family has been accused of all sorts of weird and unfounded allegations. It was difficult to take some of them seriously initially as they were so outrageous. Now I just feel disgust, and anger that some former colleagues of mine, some of whom I regarded as friends are trying to destroy that which I and so many others have strived so hard to create.I can understand grievances with being paid late but this is appalling. Don't they consider the livelihoods of the current employees when they decide amongst themselves to try to destroy the company? Obviously not or how could they bring themselves to carry out this despicable act.

How can the twist the perceptions of a family environment such as this in “sex, pest hell”. If on occasion people shake hands or hug in this company, it is because those people are friends. I myself have made some really valuable friends in this company who I socialize with almost every weekend. Why should I treat my friends differently when I aim in the office with them for fear someone around us is going to say one of us is sexually assaulting the other. It is absolutely ridiculous. With regard to the payment issue. There was a problem with cashflow as we were all informed off. This isn't an ideal situation to be in but I can understand the pressures involved in a start-up company. I trust my employers, I know they will do everything in their power to look after me in every way possible.

When I started here for the first few I had no car, they used accommodate me by putting me up in a hotel every time I worked late and was too tired to get a taxi all the way home to where I lived in Wicklow. Shortly afterwards they provided accommodation for me to help me out while I tried to find some living arrangements of my own. I am eternally grateful to David and Esther Crownborn. They have done everything in their power to help me in my life. These are the sort of people everyone would be glad to have as friends. It doesn't just hurt me because disgruntled employees are trying to destroy the company I work, my livelihood and other family's livelihoods. It hurts me because they don't deserve this. All they have ever done is give; to me, to the other employees to worker hard as I did to earn their respect and to our economy.

Please, stop making totally unfounded allegations when you have absolutely no proof of anything. There are legally appreciate methods for everything. Trying to destroy something like GMV totally doesn't benefit anyone. It doesn't benefit the people who have lost their jobs or left the company. It affects me and the 48 other employees in here.

Regards,
D.M

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is R., and I am employed as a Software and Systems Architect in Global Mobile Vision (GMV). It’s been over six months now since I have joined the company. Before I even started working for GMV, during the interview itself I knew that the opportunity to work for this company would be special.

During the interview process it was obvious that members of the company who interviewed me highly valued personal integrity as well as my skills – they wanted to hire a good person first and foremost. GMV holds a high value for integrity, and it trickles down from the Vice President David Crownborn himself to everyone involved in the company.

Personally, I feel compelled to say that GMV values each and every employee, and treats them as an extension of their own family. This is the impression that has been left upon me during the months I have been employed here. In fact, being a part of many interviewing process for potential employees, it was clear that the values the candidate possessed was a prerequisite, regardless of skill.

In short, my experience has been enriching, positive and rewarding to date. I feel like a part of a family, in addition to an employee. GMV stresses a work-life balance as well, for example, telecommuting is allowed – this was very, very important in my case, as my family had just relocated to Ireland (and I have two young children). My experience here at GMV has been that of being valued, trusted, and a part of something more than just a ‘job.’

Regards,
R.Y

I believe GMV is an innovative and dynamic company and is dedicated to its employees' career growth. Its friendly environment provides us with the opportunity to achieve our highest level of professional performance.

In addition, I would also like to inform you that I have never witnessed any sexual harrassment by anybody in the company.

I believe that the allegations made through the press in the last few days have negatively affected my work, I hope it will stop soon.

Dear all,

I would just like to take this opportunity to convey my complete satisfaction and indeed thanks for the great working atmosphere created by all in management at Global Mobile Vision.

I am very happy working for GMV and would be under great grievence should my job be at risk of being lost as a result of the untrue allegations and rumours brought up against us recently. In fact I have on recent performance appraisals expressed my happiness with my job here.

Since I have been working for GMV I have not witnessed any behaviour to confirm the allegations against the staff of sexual harassment or bullying towards myself or any other staff members.

In terms of allegations of non-payment, I was given a personal explantion and reassurance from Tara, David and Deborah that this was a once-off occurance and that you were very sorry for the delay in payment and consequently I have been paid everything I am owed. I understand that new companies will have initial hurdles to cross in preparation for winning the marathon!!

If there have been any such incidences I know of no complaints made to HR or management in reguards to reporting or constructively dealing with these matters whilst they were in employment or thereafter.

What I really want is to get back to work! Enough of our time has been wasted already dealing with these matters. It is only thanks to you guys at GMV that I have this job to do. A job which I honestly love doing! You have been willing to invest in the future of a technologically minded Irish woman such as myself, which I can tell you from searching through the Irish job market previous to employment here, is not an easy thing to find!!

I am sincerely offended by ex-employees claims against our company, and I am frankly shocked as to their complete un-professional approach to dealing with such cases against the company.

David and Esther have given me a great opportunity to build a career in new and exciting technologies and I would be greatly disappointed to lose this opportunity now or at anytime, as I see myself working with them for the foreseeable future. Plus they are genuine, honest and passionate people whom I would hate to see this great injustice ruin all that they have built so far. I have learnt a great deal about technology and business from their example.

Global Mobile Vision is a company I have come to fully trust in the last 3 months, with the same knowledge that a lot of the people making the allegations have had. Not only do I trust you with my time but also with my intellect and person.

Hopefully all shall be resolved soon!

Yours Sincerely,

C.

I am an employee of Global Mobile Vision. The purpose of this personal
email to you is to air my personal concerns about the alleged allegations
concerning Global Mobile Vision.

First of all I must say that I am a family man, Global mobile Vision is the
company that I have been working for, it has been my only means of income by
which I am able to provide for my family and live a happy life.

Finally, I must say that the allegations published against GMV in The
Village publication are all fallacies, made up by a few individuals who
simply want to pull other people down with them because they think they are
going down.

Thank you for taking your time to read this email.

Regards,
J.

I am contacting you as a concerned constituent of Dublin South. I am concerned for my job, the jobs of my friends and colleagues and indeed for the continual future of my company.

When I say 'my company' I don't mean it in the sense of having shares or any actual legal stake in the company. I mean I have worked for the future of my company since almost its beginning, making good friends in management, senior management and the general workforce. I have seen my colleague's work tirelessly for their fellow employee's, themselves and their families. The reason I have worked so hard for my company is obvious. If my company succeeds I succeed.

Recently a number of former employees who were employed in a trainee capacity together with their families and friends have launched a suspiciously organised attack on my company alleging all sorts of damaging claims. Damaging to me and my colleagues and damaging to my company and its business locally and potentially internationally.

This group have teamed up with TD F.M and TD J.H with the agenda of elevating these allegations into a national debate.
I can only imagine what effect this media circus would have on my company and its future.

Neither TD F.M. nor TD J.H have any stage attempted to contact any present employee to hear their side of these allegations instead on Tuesday as far as I am aware TD F.M or TD J.H. will enter these allegations for debate in a Q&A in the dail with aim of further debate.

I strongly feel it would be a grave injustice for my colleagues and I, who for such a long time have worked so hard, and so long for our company and our future. To be railroaded by a small group of ex trainee employees and their trail by media tactics.

All I ask, is for their allegations to be dealt with in the appropriate arena i.e. in an official capacity. Not in the media.

Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me in your capacity as a TD.

N.F.

To whom it concerns,

I am quite disgusted at the libelous information that has been spread around by the disgruntled ex-employee's of this company. It is affecting the progress of the work I am doing and hindering me in being able to do my job. I have never come across any of the rubbish they are putting out about this company and think its quite sad that a few people could bring about the ruination of a company as progressive and up-beat as this one.

I love my job here, enjoy what I'm doing and for the first time in a long time I feel that my ideas and creativity are appreciated. I have grave concerns about the future of my position here, given the heinous nature of these few individuals in trying to bring the company to a close. The allegations as far as I am concerned are all nonsense, I've never been inappropriately touched or hugged by any member of staff, never made to pray or been held against my will, and my wages have been paid on time and in full.

I for one just wish that I could get on with my job and would like to see an end to this nonsense as its extremely damaging to the company and employees as a whole.

With the kindest of regards,

A.F.

Dear All,

I personally don't feel sexual harassment at all. I'm quite happy to work for my company and I would like that those allegations to end so that we could continue our work.

Thanks a million
